It’s Not Long Legs that Carry Me Forward
The youngest of four siblings, I’ve always identified closely with my father, a remarkable lawyer and educator. We shared physical attributes (a notable nose) and traits (not being especially handy). I learned to walk at a fast clip, always trying to keep pace with him. For years, I attributed his gait and vast ground coverage to long legs. On reflection, I’m certain what carried my father forward was a no-time-like-the-present attitude and, even more, a stride that was purposeful and expectant - like he knew something and someone glorious was out there to be enjoyed and he was only too delighted to meet them.
That readiness to greet with cheerful heart and open mind is my father’s legacy to me. It shapes how I show up seeing and seeking possibility and the certainty there is growth ahead! You will recognize it in the way I show up for you: purposeful and expectant and certain there is something glorious in you.
